About the Millennial Generation
(Based on Intuit Small Business Report – January 2007)
- More than any other generation before them, Millennials are networked, both technologically and personally. They depend on social rela¬tionships with a select but changeable group of peers.
- Millennials are risk takers and aren't afraid to try new things. They are willing to make mistakes and learn from them – traits that are extremely important for successful entrepreneurs.
- This generation sees entrepreneurship as a way of maintaining independence and taking ownership of their own careers.
- Millennials are highly entrepreneurial and more likely to form their own businesses than previous generations. In fact, it's not surprising to learn that this generation is interested in serial entrepreneurship – working on several business ideas at one time.
- This generation has Googled their way through school and is comfortable looking for relevant information that will improve their businesses. Once they see the need, they will do research on the Web and network with other entrepreneurs to identify solutions.
- Millennials want total control over the information they receive; getting their permission is increasingly critical in order to get them to actively engage.
